Kary C. Frank
Kary Frank passed away on May 8, 2023. His obituary can be found here. Kary practiced law primarily in the areas of estate planning and administration, business and real estate transactions, construction law and related litigation. He graduated from Big Rapids High School (1966). Thereafter he was drafted, and served in the U.S. Army in 1968-70, stationed at the Arctic Test Center in Alaska. Kary graduated from Ferris State College with an AAS in Building Construction Technology and a BS in Trade and Technical Education, additionally he has an MEd in Vocational Education from the University of Arkansas. After graduation from the University of Arkansas Law School in 1981, he taught at Jordan College and adjunct at Davenport College. In 1983 he opened a law office in downtown Rockford and a satellite office in Big Rapids, which Blakeslee Rop has continued. He is a State of Michigan licensed real estate broker and licensed residential builder.
Professional Involvement:
Kary has served as a moderator at the State Bar of Michigan Annual Meeting, has been published in the Michigan Bar Journal, the Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal, the ELDRS Update (a publication of the Elder Law & Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan) and The Sporting News. A copy of his article, The Search for the Ladybird Deed, was archived in the "Reference File" at the LBJ Presidential Library, Austin, Texas, by the supervisory archivist. He served as a board member for over 10 years on Real Property Law Advisory Board for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE). He has contributed legal forms and how to kit publications for ICLE. He was also a voluntary defense counsel for the West Michigan Regional Sobriety Court for over 3 years. He was also a long term member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section, the Business Law Section and the Real Estate Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
